Hungary’s House of Music Among Time Out’s ‘Best New Things’

Vis­it­ing the House of Music — a trib­ute to Hun­gar­i­an musi­cians who have made their mark on the world — is run­ner-up on Time Out magazine’s list of “best new things to do in the world in 2022”, project com­pa­ny Városliget said.

Time Out calls the House of Music, designed by Japan­ese archi­tect Sou Fuji­mo­to, “the stand­out ini­tia­tive” of the Liget Budapest project which aims to reha­bil­i­tate the capital’s City Park and trans­form it into a muse­um island.Related article

After three years of con­struc­tion, the House of Hun­gar­i­an Music was hand­ed over in Budapest’s City Park. It will open its doors on Jan­u­ary 22, 2022, on the Day of Hun­gar­i­an Culture.

“Open­ing in ear­ly 2022, Sou Fujimoto’s House of Music, Hun­gary in City Park fea­tures a roof per­fo­rat­ed with 100 or so cav­i­ties that allow nat­ur­al light, trees and sound to infil­trate the two per­for­mance venues, exhi­bi­tion spaces and library, which are linked by mag­nif­i­cent spi­ral stair­cas­es, and a com­plete glass exte­ri­or to aid reliance on renew­able ener­gy,” Time Out said.
