Hun­gary Offers to Send Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Experts to Lebanon

Hun­gary has offered to send five experts in dis­as­ter man­age­ment to Beirut, where an explo­sion on Tues­day killed at least 135, injured over 5,000 and laid waste to much of the city.

On a pro­pos­al by Prime Min­is­ter Vik­tor Orbán, the Hun­gar­i­an gov­ern­ment decid­ed on Wednes­day to send one mil­lion euros in human­i­tar­i­an aid to help vic­tims and con­tribute to recon­struc­tion efforts to fol­low the dev­as­tat­ing recent explo­sions in Beirut, the prime minister’s press chief told a press con­fer­ence. Hun­gary respond­ed to a call from the Euro­pean Union’s Emer­gency Response Coor­di­na­tion Cen­tre (ERCC) by deploy­ing expe­ri­enced experts in search and res­cue, health­care and logis­tics, the nation­al dis­as­ter man­age­ment author­i­ty said on Thursday.
